What is the EU registration certificate?

It is the document (the “green certificate”) that European citizens who will live in Spain for more than 3 months must obtain.

With it you get your NIE. You get it the same day as your appointment.

Watch the deadline! You must apply within 3 months after arriving in Spain.

Is it for you?

✓  You are a citizen of a country in the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland (see the list of countries).

✓  You are going to live in Spain for more than 3 months.

If you are not European but your family member is, what you need is the EU family member card.

What do you need?

Basic documents: passport or ID from your country, the EX-18 form and the fee paid. And in addition, depending on your case, one of these situations:

You work for a company
Work contract, company certificate or Social Security registration.
You are self-employed
Registration as self-employed with Social Security or the Tax Agency, or registration in the Commercial Registry.
You do not work
Health insurance with coverage in Spain and proof that you have enough money for yourself and your family (for example, a bank certificate or pension).
You are a student
Enrollment at a recognized center, health insurance (the European health insurance card is valid) and a declaration that you have enough money.
You are the family member of another European
If your European family member meets any of the above situations, you can also get your certificate. You need to prove the relationship.
